Dizziness and Vertigo : A Common Disease Among Working-Age People

Have you ever experienced sudden dizziness, feeling as if everything around you is spinning? This might not be just a simple case of faintness or lightheadedness, but could be a symptom of "Vertigo". This condition, which can be caused by ear disorders or neurological and brain diseases, can sometimes be more severe than you think!

What diseases can Vertigo symptoms indicate?

● Positional Vertigo

Symptoms of positional vertigo occur suddenly when the patients change their position, such as getting up from bed or bending over and then straightening up. These symptoms usually last for a few seconds and then disappear, often recurring when the position is changed again.

● Meniere's Disease or Inner Ear Fluid Imbalance

Symptoms of this type of vertigo are severe, often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and a loss of balance, which can lead to the patient stumbling or falling easily. Therefore, it is advisable for patients to remain still to prevent accidents and to avoid worsening the dizziness.

● Inflammation of the Vestibular Nerve

Symptoms of this type of vertigo can last for several hours, days, or even weeks. The patient experiences severe dizziness without any impact on hearing. This condition is commonly found in teenagers up to middle-aged adults.

● Cerebrovascular Disease

Symptoms of this type of vertigo can last for several minutes or hours and are not related to changes in position. Individuals with high blood pressure, diabetes, or those who smoke are at a higher risk of developing cerebrovascular disease.

Behavioral Adjustments to Help Reduce Vertigo Symptoms

·         When turning or moving your head, do so slowly. When bending down to pick something up, bend over and then straighten up slowly.

·         Reduce or quit smoking and drinking coffee.

·         Relax your mind to reduce stress that can trigger symptoms.

·         Avoid allergens and ensure adequate rest.

·         Try to avoid potentially dangerous places, such as high places or driving a car.

There are many diseases that can cause vertigo symptoms. If you experience these symptoms, it is advisable to undergo a brain examination for an accurate diagnosis and targeted treatment, helping patients avoid further suffering.
