What is Rheumatoid?
It’s a type of autoimmune disease with chronic inflammation of the joints throughout the body resulting in the destruction of the joints until they are unable to use normally. This can lead to permanent deformities if not properly treated. There are also other systemic symptoms outside the joints such as eye symptoms, lung symptoms, etc.
Causes of Rheumatoid
From the research, It has been found that there are many factors that contribute to the occurrence of the disease, including genetic factors, behavior and infections such as smoking, bacterial and viral infections, etc. These factors stimulate the production of antibodies that destroy tissue especially around the joints, Antibodies may be produced up to 10 years before the onset of arthritis.
Symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis patients
- red hot swollen pain in the joint Especially small joints such as fingers, wrists or other joints such as knee joints, shoulder joints, with symptoms on both sides symmetrically and lasts longer than 6 weeks
- Stiffness in the morning after waking up unable to move the joints immediately. It takes more than 30 minutes to able to move normally.
- A skin condition known as Rheumatoid nodules. It is a small bump on the skin. It is often found near the inflamed joint.
- Extra-articular symptoms such as dry eyes, conjunctivitis chronic pneumonia Vascular inflammation.
- Complications such as permanent deformities, osteoporosis, fibrosis of the lungs Including increasing the risk of heart disease and infectious disease.
Other diseases with symptoms similar to Rheumatoid
It is a disease that has chronic inflammatory symptoms such as Systemic lupus Erythematosus (SLE), psoriatic arthritis, Inflammatory blood vessels Arthritis following viral infections such as Chikunguya virus, COVID virus, etc.
Diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis
The patient take physical examination of the joints in conjunction with the delivery of specific antibody tests for this disease Check for joint inflammation and x-ray examination of the painful joints.
Guidelines for the treatment of Rheumatoid
- Non-drug treatment, such as educating patients about the disease. Reducing the use of inflamed joints physical therapy to prevent joint stiffness smoking cessation and surveillance of infection
- Drug treatment is the key to disease control. Rheumatoid arthritis cannot be cured with pain medication alone. But disease-modifying drugs (DMARDs) are needed in order to help regulate immune dysregulation. Which will reduce the destruction of joints .The medication must be adjusted appropriately to prevent deformities.
- Joint surgery or joint replacement is done in case of severe joint destruction and affecting the life of the patient.
Getting rid of pain doesn’t mean getting rid of the disease. Goals of rheumatoid arthritis treatment In addition to reducing pain Medication is needed to reduce inflammation within the joint and reduce joint destruction as much as possible to help the patient return to normal joint function. Therefore, early diagnosis Continuous medication intake and proper rehabilitation of inflamed joints will help the results of the treatment be most effective.
