What is Dermatology?

Dermatology involves studying, researching, diagnosing, and managing any health conditions that may affect the skin, fat hair, nails, and membranes. A dermatologist is a health professional who specializes in this area of healthcare.

The skin is the body’s largest organ, which acts as a barrier to protect the internal organs from injury and bacteria. It is also a good indicator of the body’s overall health, making the field of dermatology important in diagnosing and managing many health conditions.

What does a dermatologist do?

A dermatologist is a specialist medical doctor who manages diseases related to skin, hair, nails, and some cosmetic problems. A dermatologist has extensive training, allowing them to diagnose accurately and adequately treat more than 3,000 skin, hair, and nail diseases, as well as cosmetic concerns.

Dermatologists also understand that a skin condition can severely impact your health and well-being. Sometimes, a skin condition is a sign of a serious underlying health issue, and your dermatologist may be the first to notice it. For example, signs of diabetes and heart disease can show up on the skin.

What is ACP Treatment (Autologous Conditioned Plasma)

Autologous conditioned plasma (ACP) (also called platelet-rich plasma therapy) is a concentration of platelets and growth factors created from a small amount of patient own blood.

The procedure involves a small amount of blood being taken from the patient, the blood is then placed in a centrifuge which spins and separates the platelets from the rest of the blood. The patient’s platelets are then collected into a highly concentrated formula which is injected into the patient’s knee.

When platelets become activated, growth factors are released and initiate the body’s natural healing response and reduce the symptoms of arthritis.

The ACP treatment is today promising treatment method that promotes the body’s own healing factors, meaning the natural self-healing of tissue. The treatment does not have any side effects.

What is Cosmetic Surgery?

Cosmetic surgery is where a person chooses to have an operation or invasive medical procedure, to change their physical appearance for cosmetic rather than medical reasons. Cosmetic surgery can be performed on all head, neck, and body areas. Because treated areas function properly but lack aesthetic appeal, cosmetic surgery is elective.
